cHARLOTTE MASON
If you’re a homeschooling Mom, chances are, handicrafts feel like an extra subject you don’t have time for.
You might recognize yourself here:
“I know handicrafts are important, but I don’t know what to teach.”
“I worry I’m not “crafty” enough to teach this.”
“We collect arts and craft supplies we never use.”
And while you know you are more than capable of homeschooling your children, making space for handicrafts on top of everything else you’re teaching feels overwhelming. Even if you’re naturally “crafty”, the sheer amount of options, supplies, not to mention the mess, leaves you feeling defeated before you even start. Before you know it, another year has passed and you’re still not any closer to that creative culture that you long for in your home and family.
This course is designed to help Handicrafts become a peaceful, anticipated part of your homeschool rhythm. You will have a clear plan for the entire year and be able to confidently follow along as I guide your family through each lesson.
With this course, you and your children will:
- Create beautiful and useful projects with simple, intentional materials
- Learn patience, perseverance, and pride in careful work
- Value the process of careful attention, skill, and craftsmanship
A better approach:
The Charlotte Mason Way
This is not about quickly cranking out disposable crafts to simply check them off a list.
It’s about building skills, confidence, and the quiet satisfaction of creating something useful and beautiful together.
Your children will begin to see themselves as capable makers who can learn difficult skills through patient practice.
finally…
At The End of The Year…
When you finish this course, you won’t be left with unused craft supplies, more mess, and more decision fatigue.
Your family will walk away with more than just practical skills. Handicraft time will transform from an intimidating homeschool subject into a treasured weekly rhythm where you and your children will practice developing the habits of attention, patience, and careful workmanship through a year of thoughtfully planned, tried and true paper handicrafts.
This course curriculum will help you to cultivate a home where beautiful work, patient effort, and craftsmanship become a part of everyday life.
Once you begin, handicrafts will start to feel different
Instead of feeling overwhelmed with starting, you’ll feel confident and prepared.
Instead of thinking “I’m not creative or crafty enough to teach this”, you’ll know “We can do this. Handicrafts are now one of our favourite parts of our homeschool.”
Instead of thinking “I’m not good at crafts.” Your kids will finish this course knowing: “I can make beautiful things if I take my time and work carefully.”
You’ll trust yourself to guide your family in their creative pursuits
about the teacher
I’m So Happy You’re Here!
I’m Lindi Joe, and I created this course because I believe that handicrafts are so valuable for kids (and adults) to practice, and that just like any other skill, we need time to practice our God given creativity.
As a Charlotte Mason homeschooler, I believe that handicrafts are an opportunity to also cultivate habits and character, not simply produce finished objects.
I’m an Artist and have been “crafty” since childhood, but I was still inconsistent with fitting handicraft lessons into my homeschool on a regular basis. Even us crafty moms struggle with indecision and overwhelm.
I know what it’s like to have good intentions but be paralyzed by all the craft choices, skills, and projects that I wanted to teach my kids.
It wasn’t until I started teaching handicrafts at a Charlotte Mason Cottage School that I saw the need to really create a clear plan for teaching Handicrafts. I discovered that too many choices can stall creativity and derail careful planning.
After some time I developed a way to teach handicrafts that allows my students to really engage with one medium and give them the time needed to master their new skills before moving on.
My approach is to choose one medium (this course focuses on paper) and plan one year of handicraft projects around this one medium. My course is designed to guide you through an entire year of paper craft projects without getting distracted by all the other shiny craft options out there.
I created this curriculum after speaking with many homeschool moms who want to include handicrafts in their homeschool but are intimidated, overwhelmed, or just feel unqualified or not “crafty” enough to teach it.
I’ve taught this exact curriculum to my real life students ages four through eighteen. My goal here is to help you discover the same success that I did, but without all the trial and error and decision making.
